Blogging is a Full-Time Job

If I were getting paid for my blogging efforts, I’m afraid I would be fired!  I have all these lofty goals and plans for this blog (and my others) but I forget that for a blog to be truly “professional” the posting has to be consistent and the content has to be valid. I don’t think I am achieving this on my new blog ventures.  Between work and school, I am finding that setting aside time to update all my online places is not as easy as it used to be.

I thank all of you wonderful readers for your patience with me as I sort this all out! ^_^

#NaPoWriMo – Personal Notes on the Process…

Image

In my poetry Blogger, I am posting poems that I have been writing this month for National Poetry Month. After the poem, I’ve included the prompt I wrote from. After the prompt, I have added my personal note on the process of writing the poem. I am finding that I am telling bits of my life story in the notes that may not be obvious in the poems themselves. I wish some famous poets had this on their works or that they would release books about how their poetry was conceived and born.

If you would like to see what I’ve been up to for NaPoWriMo, check out my poetry Blogger or here are links to the individual poems:

Happy Monday the 13th!

Surprisingly, today was not the day unlucky things happened. The evening of Easter Sunday last week (4/5/15) was the beginning of a less than productive week. I went to leave for school to find the car not parked in the space it was left in the night before!

Since the campus of my classes is 5 miles or so beyond the bus route, and I don’t have a car, AND apparently even though I had money in my account my phone bill didn’t go through so I had no phone, I wasn’t able to coordinate rides to school and didn’t go to class all week Thankfully, my classes are self-paced and I know that I am capable of grinding out the missed work in a day or two if I push myself.

Other than the car theft and missed classes, life is relatively good. My job is only a few blocks away, I got to spend my days writing poetry for National Poetry Month on my twitter (@NiccoleaPoetry) and my Blogger.

UPDATE!
The car was recovered! THANK GOODNESS!!!!! We’ll definitely be updating the car insurance to include theft coverage now!

Thanks so much to all who contributed to the GoFundMe car replacement campaign, we’ll be using the funds gathered towards the insurance since we only had the campaign up for a few days.

To poem or not to poem, such a silly question!

Of COURSE I will poem! It’s April! It’s National Poetry Month for goodness’ sake!

I used to post my poetry here on WordPress but I can’t use Google AdSense here so… posting to my Blogger instead: http://poetrybyniccolea.blogspot.com/

For me the best part is noting my process so I can know where my head was at when I read the poem 5 years or more from now. Check out the latest few poems I have written over there since the last time I posted here. Feedback appreciated! And since I am writing from prompts, I would love to see what you come up with! Post in the comments of the Blogger. :-)

Are you doing the 30/30 challenge? Are you posting the poems on line? Please put a link in the comments so I can check out what you do! :-)

Thanks for reading!

#NaPoWriMo 2015

I am posting my National Poetry Month poems on my Blogger: http://poetrybyniccolea.blogspot.com/

I am doing old prompts Rachel McKibbens posted to her blogspot. These are the ones I have posted so far:
1/30 – Rushing – Diary Entry of The Flash
2/30 – The Sky Is Mine Beyond the Lie
3/30 – The Unicorn That Went Astray
4/30 – Longing for the Chrysalis

I have some catching up to do but I have also posted 6 micro-poems to my twitter @NiccoleaPoetry

Check them out and let me know what you think! :-)

In Other News… It’s National Poetry Month

This is the time that many poets are doing what is called a 30/30 challenge to write a poem a day in April for “NaPoWriMo” or “National Poetry Writing Month” as they like to call it. Every year since 2008, I have participated in this challenge and made a chapbook from my efforts. I am sadly behind in writing this month because of so many life distractions. I have challenged myself to write poems from prompts posted by Rachel McKibbens from 2009-2013. I did start the process by making a list of links for the month. I’ll post links to my blogspot once they are up. Stay tuned!

Give and/or Share – Our Car Was Stolen!

A reader-friend suggested that we do a GoFundMe campaign to get a car so this is that campaign. Even if you can’t give financially, please share the link. Thanks so much for your support!
